Is my family the only family that celebrates Sibling Day? It’s a tradition that my older sister initiated a long time ago, but it goes like this…one day during the winter holidays when we’re all together we spend the whole day out! I think it originated because we’re all so far away from each other, and now that we’re even farther away from each other (California, Canada, and New York) it makes celebrating sibling day that much more important. If we’re all in New York we usually spend Sibling Day visiting Santa at Macy’s on 34th street, followed by lunch and a visit to the Christmas village/ ice skating at Bryant Park, but this year we were in California and we celebrated our day instead by exploring Japantown in San Francisco. My oldest sister has already been living in California now for 2 years and she had yet to go! So, we decided to make a day of it! A full day of laughs, hugs, and quality time exploring Japantown.
Highlights included: Exploring the beauty products at the Korean beauty supply shops, conveyor belt sushi, wandering the aisles at Daiso (Japanese dollar store), finding a bearded Pikachu, and browsing through all of the anime at Kinokuniya bookstore.
