Twenty years ago I visited NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida with my sisters and parents. I remember that I was 10 and boarding the flight from JFK to Florida I thought to myself… “It’s happening!! I’m going to Disney!” But it turns out that Disney wouldn’t be my favourite part on that family vacation. Years later the greatest memories I have from that trip are of our visit to the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral.
I’ve always been something of a space junkie, sci-fi nerd, and straight up geek when it comes to all things space, even at 10. So aspect of our visit to the Kennedy Space Center was jaw dropping and phenomenal. There’s something about space and the work that NASA does that I find incredibly inspiring.
We decided to arrive to Florida 2 days before our cruise was scheduled to depart so that we could visit the space center, me for the 2nd time since I was a kid, and Marc for the first time. It was an easy day trip from Orlando and we went with a tour bus company so we didn’t have to rent a car or worry about how to get there. Although it probably would have been a whole lot cheaper to do. Meh…you live and you learn. On our return to Orlando our tour guide told us that there were a tonne of places to eat in Pointe Orlando so we walked around and did some menu research before picking a spot….Hmm I should probably write a separate post about the restaurant…
